Why did the word mineral from the latin word mineralis get its name?

Why? because it was taken from the latin word mineralis.

"Mineralis" meant ore, from the same root as mine.

Origin: 1375–1425; late ME %26lt; MF, OF mineral %26lt; ML minerāle (n.), minerālis (adj.), equiv. to miner(a) mine, ore (%26lt; OF miniere %26lt; VL *mināria; min- (see mine2) + L -āria -ary) + -āle, -ālis -al1
