My name is Marvin and many people of the country of El Salvador have this name. My question is how did this welsh name get to this country with Spanish and Indian roots?
Can anyone tell me how the name of Marvin get to Latin America?
Many Welsh settled in South America. There are some towns (especially in Argentina - I've been there) that only speak Welsh Gaelic instead of Spanish, Portuguese, English, or their Native tongue.
Reply:A lot of English names came to countries in Central America by way of British intervention in the region. Basically, the British brought slaves from Africa to help them establish territory. That is the reason why most of the Atlantic coasts of countries in this region have large populations of people with African descent and they carry not only the English language but also English names and the Protestant religion. Here is an exmaple of a Central American with an English name:

What Amanda Creek stated is also true. It could be one or the other. This reasons factor as to why people have these names.
