Sorry for my English, I hope you understand me.
Why language of Roma Empire was Latin, where is come name " Latin" , why it haven't name Roman?
Hello,
The language on the Italian peninsula was Latin from the original Latium tribe and Rome was named affter one of her founders, Romulus.
Actually the language of the Roman Empire was Koine Greek, thanks to Alexander The Great who had conquered most of the world 300 BC before Rome's big expansion. No Roman magistrate was given any foreign posting unless he spoke fluent Greek.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly
Reply:Latin existed as a language before Rome as a village or city existed.
So it is not named after Rome, but after the area where Rome is sited.
Reply:It comes from the people of Latium.
